eight is enough

from the far upper reaches of the lower balcony on monday night, p-town’s ultimate orchestra was as an organic mass of black-and-white wrestling with mahler’s sixth symphony.  it was often difficult to believe that mere mortals were making this music happen.  in order to verify their mortality, i’ve decided to get up close to many of the very same string players that recently brought uncle gustav’s massive music to life.  yep: this beaver will be crossing the mighty willamette on tuesday night to witness eight of our city’s top musicians perform compositions from the likes of max bruch (!), felix mendelssohn (!!), and dmitri shostakovich (!!!) in a program wonderfully entitled octetlandia.  and just when you think the sound of fiddles, violi, and cellos couldn’t be any sweeter, it turns out that 100% of ticket sales will go to support the most amazing nonprofit and independent radio station on the planet.  wow ~ now that’s what i call a win-win-win-win-win-win-win-win-win!  *click anywhere you want on this sentence for more deets.  hope to see y’all in the crowd!
