i ain’t gonna lie: it’s been a pretty challenging week for the oldest band in the western land.  on thursday, the oregon symphony board unexpectedly announced a pair of cost-cutting bombshells: 3 people behind the curtain lost their jobs and the may 9th trip to carnegie hall was cancelled.  ouch!  all this coming at a time when way-too-many major orchestras around the country are filing for bankruptcy or are negotiating with musicians on strike.  while the sweet, sweet tunes of tonight’s billy-joel-inspired pops concert will undoubtedly offer some solace [i almost wrote that with a straight face], this rodent just wanted to say thanks again to all those brilliant and beautiful violinists, violists, cellists, bassists, flutists, oboists, clarinetists, bassoonists, horners, trumpeters, trombonists, tubists, timpanists, percussionists, harpists, conductors, librarians, roadies, and office personnel that put out the most amazing music in p-town week after week after week.  y’all are freaking spectacular.

forward!  xoxo, cb

Well said, Beaver. Time to gnaw down some more trees to fortify the dam….

Thanks for the support, Beav. We need especially now that we are all taking pay cuts.
