tonight (tonight!) in salem, followed by saturday (tomorrow!), sunday (matinee!), and monday (finally!) at the schnitz, the oregon symphony is not only playing four amazingly diverse pieces of music, they’re also doing it while hosting the fiddling phenom known as joshua david bell.
why go? c’mon, don’t be an idgit… if you can make it to one of these shows, do it. it’s like catching wynton marsalis at jimmy mak’s ~ you’ve got something better to do than listen to a living legend? and if witnessing joshua bell (and his *4 million dollar stradivarius) play brahms’ violin concerto isn’t effin’ amazin’ enough for you, the band is gonna tear through a trio of other gems from the 16th (!), 18th, and 20th centuries in a musical spread wider than the world web. the brass will be on fire. the cadenzas will be 100% bell. the janáček finale will be mind-blowing. go, man, go.
light a candle, genuflect, and pray to high heaven there are still some tickets left when you *click here or call (503) 228-1353.
