we three things

oh yes, the month of december unequivocally ushers in nativity sets and menorahs and solstice bonfires, but let’s not kid ourselves… this special time of year is about one thing and one thing only: shopping.  patriotic consumers are unfortunately faced with a mountain of crappy choices, so lucky for you, the classical beaver is here to offer a trio of perfect stocking stuffers, letting that special someone know: i bought this for you.

#1 ~ music for a time of war ~ the oregon symphony’s very first recording under the mighty baton of carlos kalmar.  *alex ross, über-critic for the new yorker, named it one of the top 7 classical albums of the year.  ‘nuff said.

#2 ~ oregon symphony holiday gift card ~ the band is offering a pair of primo seats for 80 smackers or a pair of choice seats for 40 clams.  *click here for more deets, but basically the recipient gets to choose from a menu of 10 mind-blowing classical shows.  not too shabby!

#3 ~ shakers’ sessions ~ the very first cd release from burgerville records featuring a dozen hot vocals from storm large, pete droge, mike coykendall, and others.  it’s just 10 bucks at any bv location, *all proceeds benefit those living with parkinson’s disease, and every disc comes with a free pass for the bodyworlds exhibit at omsi (a $25 value alone), so basically this gift choice is a no-brainer.  [well, i guess in actuality it’s about 200 vividly-colored plastinated brains, but you know what i mean…]  tune in tomorrow when the beav reveals how it discovered this amazing deal!
