sure do hope evanescence, adele, and scotty mccreery are enjoying their current billboard 200 success, because i suspect come next week they’ll all be moving down a notch. why such confidence? because tuesday is when the oregon symphony (finally!) releases their first album under the direction of maestro carlos kalmar. [man, i can’t tell you how much joy i got from typing that sentence.] oh sure, it’s already available for download, but this is one ol’ fashioned rodent who still likes to hold actual jewel cases in its hot little paws. and to celebrate the album’s long-awaited birth, the band is throwing a party at the nines hotel (ohh la la!) on sunday the 30th following their afternoon concert. here’s the best part: you’re invited. yep, a mere 10 smackers gets you in the door, then off you go, hobnobbing with some of the best musicians in pdx and the absolutely incredible folks behind the curtain who make our orchestra the bomb diggity. erase whatever else might be on your social calendar that day (pumpkin carving? really?! lame.) and rsvp by clicking here. be there or be square, totes.
