what’s on tap?

for one night only (saturday!), the portland symphonic choir will join forces with the oregon symphony to perform a stravinsky two-fer (including that symphony of psalms everyone and their mother is talking about), a sweet j. s. bach suite, and the fantastic choral fantasy by L. v. Beethoven.

why go?  shiiiiiiit, you just read what i wrote and you’re still asking?!  well, first and foremost, go because i’m guessing the choral pieces by uncles igor and Ludwig aren’t performed all that often (i mean, it’s not like a lot of folks have a full orchestra, a 120-voice choir, and a piano virtuoso just laying about waiting to play).  secondly, go because the crazy-ass choral fantasy of Beethoven’s is like hearing the cliff notes version of his epic ninth symphony… minus all that angsty stuff.  thirdly, go just to see the numbers ~ close to 200 (!) musicians along with a grand piano.  [glad they ain’t playing on the sellwood bridge.]

get all the deets by clicking here or by calling the box office @ (503) 228-1353.  oh and cross yer’ fingers if you want tix, cuz it’s usually a sell-out crowd when the choir sings.  see you there!
