this saturday and monday at the schnitz, guest conductor rossen “the pride of bulgaria” milanov will lead the oso in a symphony by papa haydn, some slovakian dances by zoltán kodály, and the first piano showstopper penned by johannes brahms.
why go? c’mon, it’s always fun to watch a guest conductor take our band for a spin around the block, and the beaver has a hunch he’s gonna have a good time with these dance numbers. plus, we get to see grace under fire: natasha paremski will be filling in last-minute for yefim bronfman, whose damn inner ear infection sadly got the better of him. the silver lining of fima’s sickly cochlea? ms. paremski performed the final piano concerto of the 2010/11 season in grand style, and now she’ll also get to play the first one of 11/12. to refresh your memories, *here’s my recap from her show in april.
the tear gas has settled and the rubber bullets have all been shot ~ now it’s time to occupy the schnitz! comrade, *click here for more info on the show, and grab your tix pronto.
