jun is busting out all over

holy smokies!  the beave finally got around to hearing what concertmaster jun iwasaki [sigh] is gonna play during this weekend’s concerts ~ maurice ravel’s tzigane.  wowee, this music sounds every bit as challenging to play as any violin concerto movement we’ve heard all season long, i kid you not.  and get this: the first half of this 10-minute ditty is a completely rockin’ solo without a peep from the band… just jun and his fancy fiddle and that’s it!  oh dear.  i pretty much get the vapors everytime this violin adonis has a few fleeting solo lines within a larger piece, but c’mon: an extended virtuosic showcase?!  i’m bringing the smelling salts monday night and will be instructing my fellow concertgoers in section c how to properly use them.

ps – guess i’m not alone… found this quote from itzhak perlman:

The Ravel Tzigane is how I met my wife – she heard me play it first.  I played it in camp and she proposed to me.

Hey Brian…its Bridget who works for the company that makes OS’s programs.

I wanted to let you know that if you own an iPad you can download the interactive version from the iTunes store for free! Also, on OS’s website, you can view the flipping pages PC version as well or download the iPad version from their site. They have loved what we are doing with their programs…I hope you love it too!

Looks like you are having a blast traveling around with OS. Have a great weekend!
