a helluva town

new york, new york.  a town so nice they named it twice.  the big apple.  the city that never sleeps.  nyc: omg, so stoked to be here!  hard to believe that at the beginning of this season, i never even intended to make the trip.  over the course of several months however, the journey has blossomed into something more akin to a pilgrimage.  direct from the airport, the classical beaver has decided to first make its way to *green-wood cemetery, officially kicking-off this musical sojourn by seeking blessings at leonard bernstein’s grave.  then it’s off to the *morgan library reading room in midtown manhattan, where the beave has (to my utter astonishment) received permission to page through musical scores created by the hands of benjamin britten and charles ives.  and tonight?  dear god.  tonight i’ll be sipping wine with my dear friend alena while we are both blown away by the *village vanguard orchestrawowee!  if the beave ain’t in a new york state of mind after today, feel free to slap me silly and call me susan.
