yo, this sunday afternoon and monday night a fully re-charged oregon symphony is back in the saddle again after a monster spring break. and what could be better than kicking off the season’s home stretch than with LvB’s symphony #6? well, how about adding sergei prokofiev’s very first piano concerto and bohuslav martinů’s very last symphony… at no extra cost to you!
why go? oh jeez, c’mon. so far this season the band has played 2 minutes of Beethoven – and for once the beaver ain’t even exaggerating. Ludwig will finally be in the house for reals, single-handedly ushering in springtime with his amazingly eco-friendly pastoral symphony number six. a 20-something piano wunderkind will also be in the house to knock our collective socks off with a very sweet-ass piano concerto (trust me). oh, and last-minute maestro michael francis will be back on the bloody podium for a second time, helping us get to know martinů’s music. he might even tell us what that odd little circle above the “u” is doing there.
only 4 more shows left this season. catch as many as you can. go ahead and click here for official deets.
