what’s on tap?

this saturday, sunday, and monday, the set list for the best band in stumpland includes an 8-minute gem by igor stravinsky, symphony #5 by franz schubert, edvard grieg’s very famous piano concerto, and danzón no. 2 by arturo márquez.

why go?  drama!  the guest conductor originally scheduled for this weekend canceled on tuesday (bummer!) and the symphony had to scramble to find a replacement (and quickly!).  can’t wait to see if they pull this off (spoiler alert: they will!).  and the icing on the cake?  portlandia’s fave piano player thomas “the guy from pink martini” lauderdale will undoubtedly produce the most energetic and most funnest concerto of the season.  wanna know what it was like to see and hear liszt play back in the day?  c’mon down to the schnitz this weekend and find out.

if you’re still not convinced, check out the band’s website for more info.
