what’s on tap?

this saturday, sunday, and monday, the os concerts are gonna open up with an overture by mr. brahms.  after that (god help us all) is the sixth and final symphony of 20th-century danish composer carl nielsen.  after a well-earned intermission, crazy cool yuja wang is going to tackle the piano concerto that geoffrey rush never could: the rach 3!  whoa nellie, it’s gonna be hot.

why go?  c’mon – give your attention span the most intense workout of twenty eleven with the nielsen 6 [spoiler alert: more on that tomorrow].  and then reward yourself with the piano concerto by russian god sergei rachmaninoff.  perhaps ms. wang will even play an encore.
