calling all hep cats

okay, let me start off with a confession: classical music is not my first love.  my previous paramour in the world of sound was jazz (one might say we’re currently fwb’s).  i know, words are cheap, so let me establish my jazz cred: 1) i’ve got over 21.3 hours of miles on my hard drive; 2) i’ve flown to nyc with the express purpose of catching a show at the village vanguard; 3) a few folks i’ve seen perform live include charlie haden, ravi coltrane, frank sinatra, larry grenadier, don byron, brad mehldau, ornette coleman, devin phillips, sonny rollins, bill charlap, jeff ballard, dianne reeves, pat metheny, mark turner, joe lovano, dave brubeck, and cassandra wilson.  i’m for reals, yo!  so, dear beaver readers, you might be asking yourself: what’s he getting at here?  well, let me tell you.  this post is going out to all those jazz lovers out there who have been thinking about checking out the symphony – the upcoming shows next saturday & monday are the most jazz-tastic concerts of the classical season!  there’s gonna be a world-renowned percussionist flying in to jam with the band, and as if that wasn’t enough, gershwin’s cuban overture is going to bring down the house.  grab your berets, snap your fingers, and get some goddamn tix now!
