what’s on tap?

this saturday and sunday the oregon symphony presents the complete masterwork by george frideric handel: the messiah.

why go?  well, several points come to mind (including the theorbo, matthew white, and the portland symphonic chamber choir), but let me just leave you with this: mr. handel premiered this oratorio in 1742 (!) and it’s pretty much been performed continuously by tens of thousands of people ever since.  no other piece of music can claim this kind of staying power.  want to be a part of the magic?

too bad, because it’s pretty much sold out.  hey – we warned you to get tickets asap.  jeez louise you never listen.  you can always try, though… call the ticket office today at (503) 228-1353 and give them the secret password: “the beaver has a messiah complex.”  good luck!
