the first annual international stephen hough appreciation week: day 5!

let me be the first to wish you a very happy day #5 of the first annual international stephen hough appreciation week.  once again, we slip on our bracelets, flick my bic, and light the yellow candle which honors the man as activist.  that’s right, mr. hough is not only the platonic form of piano player, he is also an eloquent champion of human equality.  here’s a brilliant lil’ snippet mr. hough wrote for the tablet magazine:

“…the Churches cannot expect gay non-Christians in a secular world to abstain from sexual relationships from their teenage years up to the end of their lives; and thus they cannot exclude those same people from either marriage or a legal commitment and then complain that such relationships are unstable.”

so, what’s on tap?  what’s on tap?!  [gawd-dayam, don’t make me press that caps lock button…]  what’s on tap, you ask?  well, i’ll tell you what’s on tap: stephen freakin’ hough blowing up a franz freakin’ liszt piano concerto, that’s what’s on tap.  i am tellin’ you… this music may be the most crowd-pleasingly perfect 88-key showstopper ever created.  and to have stephen hough in town performing it – oh my.  (and as luck would have it, right smack dab during the first annual international stephen hough appreciation week).  oh jeez, it is going to be utterly amazing.  i think i’m gonna bring a change of shorts, you know, just in case.

oh, and after intermission, it’s mahler ten.  jesus. h. christ.

saturday, sunday, monday… go all three nights if you can.  click here now.
