what’s on tap?

this coming sat-sun-mon the oregon symphony is led by guest conductor/soloist pinchas zukerman playing a 1963 overture, Beethoven’s symphony #1, and a brahms’ concerto featuring solo violin and solo cello.

why go?  1) Beethoven is on the program.  hearing his first symphony is kinda like hearing the beatles rubber soul album – brilliant in its own right, while also foreshadowing the brilliance that was to come.  2) zukerman has been a rockstar on the violin since the 1960’s, and hearing him play is kinda like hearing paul simon, dylan, and other living legends in concert.  3) if you happen to be a fan of the portland cello project, amanda forsyth will undoubtedly be schoolin’ y’all in how to play the shit outta dat instrument… plus, i suspect she’s gonna do it wearing some kickass evening gown.

check out www.orsymphony.org for more deets.
